Today I am doing a special post. I don’t usually do these kind of personal posts but I wanted to share some of my projects from the fashion class that I take at my school. The semester is over so I will not have this class next semester. One assignment in the class was to create a couture dress made only out of newspaper (we cheated a little by making some of the flowers of out napkins). I paired up with three girls to create this dress. We created the base from thick white paper. After that step, we layered the dress with a lot of newspaper. We all came up with the design of the dress, but each of us contributed in our own way to the dress. I think the final result of the dress was fantastic and that our hard work payed off. The picture below is a picture of me and the dress:
I also created a mood board along with three outfits inspired by the mood board. I named the mood board Afrochic because the clothing that I designed was inspired by different elements of the fashion and mood of Africa. (Please ignore my teacher’s writing on my second design)
Another project I did was a poster board showcasing five designs from my clothing line called Suspended Desert. The style of the clothing is modeled after the movement of the sand, as well as the different colors of the sand and the contrasting color of the sky.
I hope you liked them!
Thanks for stopping by,
I love to sleep as much as possible, a girl has to have her beauty sleep right? I try to save myself time in the morning with these tips so that I can get out my door in half an hour.
1) Pick out your outfit the night before. You might even want to try on the outfit the night before to make sure you like how it looks. You don’t want to put on the outfit in the morning only to spend an extra seven minutes picking out a new outfit.
2) Decide if you will wear makeup that day the night before. This may sound silly, but mentally telling yourself if you will or put on makeup the night before will save you any time that you would have spent contemplating if you should apply makeup or not.
3) If it is necessary, straighten your hair the night before instead of in the morning. Curling your hair the night before is debatable because curls will often loose their bounciness overnight, however straight hair usually remains straight the next morning.
4) Shower the night before. If you can stand not taking a ten minute shower to wake yourself up in the morning then opt for a shower before you go to bed.
5) Know what the weather will be the entire week so that you can choose your outfits based on the forecast.
6) Organize your closet. Divide your closet by putting the pants, skirts, and tights in one area, shirts in the other, and so on. This way, you will find it much easier and much faster to find where certain pieces of clothing are located.

A statement necklace is equivalent to a scarf because like a scarf, it is the centerpiece of an outfit. Statement necklaces do not all look the same; they can be silver, gold, chunky, oversized, embellished, colorful, etc. etc. My statement necklace collection is small but a necklace that I wear all the time is one I purchased from H&M. The necklace is light pink and designed to look like petals. I love this pretty pastel color because it is not too crazy as the colors of some statement necklaces tend to be. Pastel colored necklaces are wonderful because they give just enough pop of color to make an outfit stand out. My necklace also instantly becomes the center of attention if I wear it with darker or neutral colors. Statement necklaces breathe life and excitement into bland and simple outfits. Therefore my favorite way to wear my statement necklace is with an otherwise boring outfit such as jeans and a sweater. Although I love necklaces of all sorts, try to look for a necklace that would best suit you. If you have a round face, opt for a necklace that is longer. For a long face go with a short and round necklace. Adding an unexpected bold necklace will take your outfit from casual to trendy and fabulous.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is all about mustard this fall! This color trend may pass quickly, so take full advantage of it now! Mustard is a deep yellow which resembles the falling yellow leaves in fall. For women, this is an easy color to invest in. But for men, this is a risky color. However, with the correct styling you can look great. The key to pulling this trend off is by making mustard the center of attention. Meaning, tone down the rest of the colors in the outfit. Stick to neutrals such as black, blue, gray, and white. They are the safest bet for both genders to pair with this color. Girls, you may even try pairing mustard with burgundy; another popular fall color. Also, I discovered an excellent picture on the web depicting what colors go with mustard: the picture is the first one below! Yellow is a color known to lighten the mood so why not opt for this version of yellow? If you see a mustard sweater or pants (which I especially love for guys) etc., please do consider making the purchase, it is a great color for fall! Here are some fashion-forward outfits that you can pull inspiration from:

Or maybe we should just get some fashion pointers from this cute little kid!
I need a ticket to New York! I am dying to see these amazing fashion pieces in person. I picked out some outfits that I love which were worn on and off the runway. This clothing is actually meant to showcase spring/summer fashion but a lot of the clothing can be used as inspiration for your fall style. For spring of 2015 you will still be seeing floral prints, crisp collars, metallic colors, fringed accessories and clothing , dressed up skirts, pop art prints, color blocking, midriffs, and so much more that I cannot simply list off in one sentence!

Often times, girls tend to dress like clones and just copy everything that other girls wear to look cool. Try to refrain from purchasing all of your clothing from Hollister and Lululemon simply because that is the “thing” to do. It is best to buy clothing that looks great on you and still looks fashionable! Purchase clothing from all different stores, while still keeping tabs on fashion trends. Don’t only limit yourself to purchasing expensive clothing, you can buy excellent second hand clothing but for much less money from many stores as well. Look for clothing that fits your personality and that people will recognize as your style! Be the girl that looks stylish and cute, instead of the girl that blends into the crowd and looks like everyone else….be a trendsetter. Look different then others yet still look much more fashion forward! If others like what you are wearing, then they will catch on, and it is likely that you will see some people wearing the same clothing the next week. Keep in mind, however, that setting trends does not mean you have to create a completely new trend that was entirely unheard of. Instead, follow trends that are all the rage in fashion but that most people have not caught on to.

Recently, my sister brought me back two awesome bracelets from her trip to Europe, and I have been loving them! In the first picture below I am wearing the two bracelets, and I also added a cute watch from Francesca’s. I could have either added a couple more bracelets or finished off my look with a thick watch, which is what I chose to do. You don’t have to go out and buy any expensive bracelets. I’m sure you can dig up some old charm bracelets, biker bracelets, vintage bracelets, etc. Anything goes! Just remember not to go overboard! You want to look classy and hip with your bracelets, not like someone who decided her arm is her new Christmas tree. Enjoy these other examples of fashionistas layering a bunch of different bracelets on their arm.
